    What happened to the name of my OneDrive folder in my navigation pane?

    So as will soon be made evident, im pretty particular. I think OCD are what the kids are calling it :P

    My OneDrive folder has always been called... wait for it.... OneDrive!

    Well imagine my surprise when I wake up one day after changing nothing and its now named something else.

    It now looks like this

    I checked another backup PC i have that is collecting dust outside of instances like this I use for cross referencing oddities etc. Naturally it has the conventional name that onedrive has used to date.

    What happened and can i fix it? :P

    The same thing append to me after I rebooted for a new Windows Update. Windows 10 21H1 Compilation 19043.1348

    I guess that's how onedrive is shown now.

    This is a change MS is rolling out. Question was asked recently. Now there's OneDrive Personal ... and OneDrive Business.

    oooof. thats unfortunate. unsightly. I did dig through the registry and get it renamed, but i imagine each and every time an update is pushed its just going to revert so outside of something crazy like locking registry keys it seems we may be stuck with it.

    Thanks for the confirm.

    yea i assumed that business users would have one that would be appended with "Business"

    not sure it was necessary but if it even helps one person then they did their job!... err...

    @klepp0906 Can you share the registry key where onedrive can be renamed?

    I just did a search for any data with "OneDrive - Personal" matching case in the registry. I renamed several/most/all so im unsure which exactly did it. One value was protected so I had to edit it as TrustedInstaller.

    Unfortunately while it had been changed, it is no longer so an update undid it thus prompting this post.

    You'll have to dabble. Keep us posted if you end up toying around and finding out which value specifically and a feasible means of retaining it that will persist.

    Here are the locations it was found on my machine.

    Code:

    I think this one does the trick for current user:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}

    This one for everyone:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}

    I renamed my to "Onedrive - Banana" and now when I type %onedrive% in run command it takes me to onedrive - Banana and opens onedrive.

    wonder if taking ownership and locking down that key will have any ramifications? I know i tried doing so with dropbox to prevent the hijacking of overlays and while it worked, when dropbox updated next it caused me to lose it from the context menu.
