Right, but you are going from a machine that was originally shipped with 8, when you throw a new OS on it, it`s hit or miss, your install could be perfect and everything works just dandy, or you could have issues, like you are experiencing.

With time and updates the issues might get corrected, or they might not. Sorry to say it, but that`s just how it is.

After all, we are talking about a laptop here, which can be much more problematic then a desktop, you`ll just have to keep working on it.

As far as Sleep goes, you should be able to choose that option right from the Shut Down menu.

Not sure what you did, but you`re not suppose to be able to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10, someone correct me if I`m wrong.

Could be part of the problem, my upgrade from 8.1 Pro to 10 is flawless.

To get the Free Win10 one is supposed to be running Win7 w/SP1 or Win8.1, kinda leaves Win8.0 out. But I think the Upgrade can be done from a downloaded .iso file but may not always be free.
It's still free to upgrade from 8 or 7 just not through windows update,

A month before, I have already faced Windows 10 sleep mode not working and Microsoft Windows 10 won’t go into sleep mode issue on my computer and it was the biggest problem for me that time. But somehow I managed to troubleshoot Windows 10 sleep mode problem and now it is working perfectly.

Here's what I have done to Troubleshoot Windows 10 Won’t Go Into Sleep Mode issue and you can do too:

    • Click on the Start button and then choose Settings option. Now go to System and then Power & Sleep.
    • Click on the “Additional power settings” option.
    • Click on Change plan settings link.
    • From the Edit Plan settings, click on the Change advanced power settings link.
    • On the Power Options dialog box, expand all the settings and make sure sleep mode is enabled everywhere.
    • Go to Multimedia settings → When sharing media → Allow the computer to sleep.
    • Finally, click OK. That's it.

For more details and different methods, follow this guide:

Thanks. I hope it helped you !!

If you don't have the sleep option you're going to have to correct the display driver first. I've had that problem a couple of times. The only fix was updated drivers for the video card.
