    Serial number of self-built PC

I want to register/link my self built computer to my Microsoft account. I don't know what to put in the Serial Number field. This computer (self-built) has "System Serial Number" in that field. That was not acceptable to Bill, nor was my motherboard serial number of 15 numbers. Consequently, I cannot download Flight Simulator 2020. Funnily enough, Microsoft Game Store was happy to process my payment. God knows if I'll ever see that again!
So, it has to be an admin thing. Any idea who I can talk to to get the serial # box ticked ? And why does this really, really matter ?
    Regards

go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices Login to your Microsoft Account, Under Devices make sure the device you are trying to install Simulator on is listed correctly. Click View Details to see the Serial # listed. Remove any device you no longer use. Make sure your Windows versions is fully Updated. There's a 30 digit Device ID number on the System > About ...page?
Could that be the number it's looking for?

Tried that but I don't know what to put in the Serial Number field. This computer I'm using now has "System Serial Number" in that field, yet Game Store has deemed it to be unacceptable too. (Not that this PC could cope with FS2020 anyway.) It seems to be a tick box admin thing I cannot get past....

Hello Ghot. Just looked at that on this computer and there is a Device ID and a Product ID. This is hopeful and well worth a shot !!!
But please can I try this tomorrow and report back? I'm old. And it's getting late here in UK.
    Thank you.

You can take all the time you want. I'm not even sure that either of those would work.
    It's just a guess.

I'm confused?? Is the computer listed in the Microsoft Account/Devices page or not? If not, you have to register it and it may take a couple of days to register in the Microsoft Store.

In either Powershell or Command, type in---slmgr /dlv---and see what numbers are given and if any are of use..
All my machines are home built and therefore have never had a manufacturer's serial number. The individual components have of course.
Perhaps if you have nothing better to do for the next year, contact Microsoft and ask them to specifically explain to what the serial number refers.
