I have four Windows 10 computers, more or less clones of each other.
One changed to dark scheme nearly all over. Edge went dark but that was easy to set back to light. Settings and Control Panel also went dark as well as the start search area and context menu etc.

However on machine number two today the only thing so far that has changed is the start search area . I hope I havn't spoken too soon. Context menus also are still white.

All my machines are ok now and back to normal colours

and i also preferred the white - interesting on my "other" pc it's still white, although i wasn't using that one much recently so might pull down the update from server soon.

I've added an entry in Feedback hub, perhaps you guys want to upvote it? I think that a toggle would make everybody happy and give even more customisations possible, which is nice, here goes https://aka.ms/AAet2py

It's a strange one, as I have been seeing the same type of post for a few years no, concerning the slow transfer of Windows 10 Dark mode to system functions, and also a few in this vein from those who do not want it an some parts of the OS but who are OK with others
I cannot see any major switch in another Feature update, I think 21H2 may be the last for Windows 10. I do believe that Microsoft will continue to complete the Dark Mode as an OS wide option.

Of course you may still be able to obtain other options from the 3rd party skins developers

Some of you were looking for dark search results and some of you got that and didn't like it.

Maybe this post will be useful to you:
Turn On or Off Search online and include web results in Windows 10

I figured out why I wasn't getting dark search results and fixed the issue (explained in detail in the linked post above) - so see if the same issue applies to you if you want dark search results, otherwise you can break dark search results and have light search results inside if that suits you

interesting to try the opposite, but i don't have either of these keys you suggested, shall i create them to revert to white?

I think I commented previously on another user reporting they'd tried to reverse this by using a System Restore point.

As that didn't have any effect, perhaps the only hope might be to add a key or value that never previously existed.

If you create and set either one to the value I said broke dark, I expect you'll have light background search results. Note that you will lose web/Internet search results from being shown in Windows Search.

Next thing you'll start noticing is the windows that are not dark and flash-bang your eyes, especially at night
