    Glad you got there in the end.

    Some USBs will boot with Secure Boot on, others will not. It all depends on whether what you are trying to boot is digitally signed by a recognised authority. A Windows install USB made by the Media Creation Tool should boot while Secure Boot is turned on, for example.
    @Jim8080,

    Did you use the Media Creation Tool to create your install USB or use some other method?

    dalchina: The computer seems faster now, and ok for a computer without a SS drive. Don't know why, but will wait until I have a problem in the future. Strange. In the past, I might wait 20 min before the drive light was off.

    Bree: I tried again with secure boot on, and it worked. Sometimes nothing happened, possibly caused by how fast I press the F12 key.

    A final question: How do I list the question I'm answering? I'm sure there is a FAQ somewhere that covers it, but have not found it.

    Jim,

    The FAQ link is at the top of every page …

    … but I don't understand what you are actually asking.

    All the best,
