So I just got a repeat of the error while copying files: "Insufficient quota to complete the requested service".
The timing could be coincidental, but I've never seen that error before.
How much free disk space do you have? Were you copying a lot of files? Provide as much detail about what you were doing when this happened.

I was copying around 250 files, spread across 16 folders, from a local drive to a share on a Windows Server 2008 VM. I was using a program called Directory Opus (a File Manager) to do the copy - it's a great utility that I've been using for >20 years. The target drive had 1.2TB of free space.
There were a number of other windows open at the time, but I wasn't actually using the keyboard when the error occurred.

I should add that, on the other occasions that the PC has crashed, the PC was dormant (Neither Directory Opus nor any other program was in active use)

I wonder if it's a server side issue? Look in your local Event Viewer and the server Event Viewer if possible for related errors around the time this happened. I've read some people who experienced this saying a reboot fixed the problem. Maybe try copying fewer files if it happens again.

Did you confirm video driver is up to date?

I've checked the Application and System Event logs on both the main PC and the Server and there was nothing for the time that I was copying the files. The same copy worked fine after a reboot.

Yes I have now used the Geforce Experience application to update the video driver.

Great! Let's see if the original is resolved now.

Bad news. The system just crashed again. It seems to follow a similar pattern each time: selected windows go black, then recover, then go black again, then both displays go completely black and that's the end of it. I did notice that RAM usage was showing as 100% just before both of the last 2 crashes. There is 32GB of RAM, and not many windows open - just a few browser windows - so RAM should not have been a problem.

See if you find clues in Event Viewer. Try using WhoCrashed app. Otherwise in place repair upgradeif no other resolution.

If you want to rule RAM out, run Memtest86+ for at least 8 passes. I would also check drive health with HD Sentinel.

The system survived for the day yesterday, but was unresponsive again when I returned to it this morning. I did notice that RAM usage was running at 98-99% nearly all of yesterday, so I have a hunch that the crash is being triggered by the system running out of RAM. I have 32GB installed, and this has never happened before the last week.

When rebooting the following errors arose in the Event Viewer:
    • The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not apply the registry-based policy settings for the Group Policy object LocalGPO. Group Policy settings will not be resolved until this event is resolved. View the event details for more information on the filename and path that caused the failure.
      ErrorDescription The data is invalid
    • The driver detected an internal driver error on \Device\VBoxNetLwf.
    • HAXM can't work on system without VT support
    • HAXM Failed to init VMX
    • The IntelHaxm service failed to start due to the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning.

The following errors were in the log in the period before the system crashed:
    • The Gservice service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
    • The Software Protection service terminated with the following error: Insufficient quota to complete the requested service.

    • ...plus multiple repeats of the above errors

I installed Whocrashed but the last crash dump that it found was from 8 months ago, so it looks like these crashes are not leaving a trail.

Or it's getting too hot? That wouldn't leave a trail.

This is a good utility to use when you are looking for unknown Events. It has a useful chronological display.
    NirSoft FullEventLogView

    Best of luck,
