Loop: Prepare Automatic Repair - Diagnosing your PC, error

    My PC, HP Z440
is in a loop and can Not boot in windows 10:
Prepare Automatic Repair - Diagnosing your PC
    ===
    When booting up:
Prepare Automatic Repair - Diagnosing your PC
    I see always... in loop...
    I have tried:
    1
Safe Mode, Uninstall the latest quality update, Restore back to point 18-10-2021 :
    same symptom
    2
Troubleshoot> Advanced options > Startup Repair:
    same symptom
    3
    BIOS - System Diagnostics,
    checked SSD and RAM
    4
BIOS/UEFI - Booted to Command Prompt
    RUN

    chkdsk d: /f /r

same symptom after all 4 above [d: is my C:/] IN ALL ABOVE

This Symptom came from an update:
Today in the morning I turn ON PC, I was offline[no cable ethernet], and while working prompt for an update[while was dis-connected], after this connected - checked some Gmail, etc. and after 30-min press UPDATE & RESTART,
And got this problem above on startup... loop...
    well...?

    I found this:
How To Fix A HP In A Preparing Automatic Repair Restart Loop [2021]
How To Fix A HP In A Preparing Automatic Repair Restart Loop [2021] - YouTube

    Commands:

    chkdsk d: /f /r

<check booting, if failure again loop cont...>

    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bcdedit /export c:\bcdbackup
    attrib c:\boot\bcd -h -r -s
    ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
    bootrec /rebuildbcd

    =====

    that I ask is:
the 1st command is d:/ [d: is Boot disk C: DRIVE]
    1
    subsequent commands have to put c: even initially insert d: ... chkdsk d: /f /r ?
    2
    bootrec /fixmbr
even my c: disk is GPT... and Not MBR..?

Hi, I don't see anything particularly helpful in that MS forum... at a quick glance, anyway. You might get lucky..

    Your PC seems quite recent.

    Which specific update causes this?
Have you reviewed the thread on that update in the News section here, with comments following, or searched tenforums and elsewhere to see if others have experinced this with this update?

What is your full Windows build number (before the update)? The forum prompted you for this.

    Interim measures:
You can take control of this meanwhile quite readily.
    a. You have Pro, so set updates to 'Notify' in Group Policy.
That will mean it will not be applied without your permission.

    b. 'Hide' (block) the problem update using a 3rd party tool e.g. WUMgr (Windows Update Manager) or similar, or try the MS method. The first is more convenient.

    Hello @lse123,

I know you think this is a WU issue, but did you remove [ or disconnect and internal HDD ] ANY external HDD BEFORE this happened?

I turned ON PC, I was offline[no cable ethernet because was connected in other PC], and while working prompt for an update[while was dis-connected], after this I GET connected - checked some Gmail, etc. INSERTED TWO USB STICK, and after safety removed BOTH, I continue some online work, and after 30-to-60 min I have pressed UPDATE & RESTART,

And got this problem on startup...

Thank you very much for your reply.

Again, advise the update, and your windows build.

Just giving a date does not convey that information.

Startup Repair is a Windows recovery tool that can fix certain system problems that might prevent Windows from starting. If Windows 10 fails to start correctly two or three times, then the automated Startup Repair system will be invoked.

You can run Startup Repair manually from Windows 10 installation media by opening the Windows Recovery Environment menu (Click Repair your Computer at the Setup screen if starting from installation media) and then clicking Troubleshoot and Advanced Options.

If Startup Repair is able to fix the problem, it’ll do so and you’ll be asked to restart the PC. If it isn’t though, perhaps because it’s unable to identify the problem, then you’ll be prompted and given the details of the log file it created during the repair process.

You will be shown the location and name of the repair log file if Startup Repair cannot fix the problem.

Clicking Advanced Options at this point will return you to the Windows Recovery Environment menu, where other repair options are available to you. If you open the log file, you’ll be shown details of all the tests performed by Startup Repair, with any errors discovered detailed. You can use this information to help diagnose and get to the root cause of the problem.

To open log file from the Windows Recovery Environment, click and open the Command Prompt. When the Command Prompt is open, type Notepad and press Enter key to open the Notepad application. The Startup Repair log file is located at:

    Code:
    C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
You will need to navigate to the drive on which you have Windows installed (usually the C: drive) to see the SrtTrail.txt log file.
