Print Screen doesn't work on new computer with Windows 10

    Hi there.

Pressing [Print Screen] is not saving an image of my screen into memory. I looked up a tutorial on the internet, and it said that I had to press [Windows] + [Print Screen] -- but I don't have a [Windows] key on my keyboard. Is there another way to do it?

Just in case this has something to do with it, I have an AMD GPU, which my monitor is connected to. I also have a GPU built into the motherboard (which I can access if I use a different cable). Does it matter which GPU I am using? (Probably not, since this seems to be a Windows issue.)

    Thank you.

Before anyone respond to this, the problem may be with my photo-editing program. I am working on it.

Pressing [Print Screen] is not saving an image of my screen into memory.
Once you press Print Screen open Paint and on the toolbar press Paste. Your image will appear.
You may find using the Snipping Tool easier to use as you can select the part of the screen you want to save.

Every Windows keyboard has a Windows key (see attached)

    Please would you explain that.

That should work even without a WinKey.
    - How do you know it is not working?
    - Do you have a key labelled Fn that you have to press in combination with PrntScrn? That's quite common with laptops.
    - Perhaps you could post a photo of your keyboard together with an explanation of how it is connected to your computer.

    All the best,
    Denis

Thanks. It turns out that the Print Screen key works just fine. What isn't working is my photo-editing program.

My keyboard doesn't have a Windows key (as I said in my first post).

Thanks again. No more help is needed on this topic.

The only English US keyboard that doesn't have a Windows key is an ancient keyboard from 20 years or more ago or an Apple keyboard. In that case the Apple Key (Command) will work as the Windows key.
What is your photo editing program? If you save your print screen using Paint to your computer you can open the pic in your Photo Editing program to edit it.

No, Spunk, not every keyboard has a Windows key. I have been a touch typist since the late 1960's. When the Windows keyboard came along, I felt that the Windows key was getting in the way of my fingers (making it harder to use the Ctrl and Alt keys), so I have been purchasing keyboards without Windows keys (which are still being sold) for all the time that I have been working in Windows.

One of my objections to the Windows key is its very existence. Bill Gates put it on the keyboard to promote Windows and to feed his ego, and it resulted in millions of perfectly good keyboards being thrown out. I get by without the Windows key very nicely. It was always unnecessary.

As I said, the photo-editing program isn't working right. I'll contact the manufacturer about that.

Hehehe... It's the most less used of the Master keys... I never use it.

I still have a couple pre 90-95's keyboards that don't have it. The last laptop without it I've seen, is long gone.

I have seen Linux fan put a penguin sticker over it many times...loll...

When IBM stopped making its PCs (heaven knows why), they discontinued the well-made keyboard that came with it. The right to manufacture it was sold to Lexmark, and when they discontinued it, the right to manufacture it was sold to a company that calls itself Unicomp. The Unicomp domain is owned by a foreign company, so they do business at:

    pckeyboard.com

They not only sell the original keyboard (the Model M, not the narrower original that came with the first PC), they have designed their own keyboards with the "clicky" feel, but with other features (such as Windows keys). I buy all my keyboards from them.

As for Bill Gates, his late-in-life philanthropy doesn't redeem him for all the damage he did when he ran Microsoft.

If you get a Lenovo today... It's an IBM, no doubt about it...

Right, just as the old IBM TravelStar HDDs became Hitachi and now are HGST [who may have made them for IBM in the first place].
