Thank you, Bree. I'll try that.

I just tried the tutorial I was given by z3r010, and it didn't work. (I put my computer to sleep, then woke it up, and there was still a big, ugly picture greeting me.)

It would seem this is a more complicated problem than I realized.

Bree, your solution is the one that worked, although to get just a solid color (which is what I want), I will have to create my own picture that is just a solid color. It's hard to believe that Microsoft thought that everyone would find such scenic pictures agreeable. This is a business computer, and I want it to appear business-like.

I'd love to get rid of the enormous time and date, but I suppose that will involve a lot of steps.

    Thank you, all.

dalchina, I'd still like to know if you were being sarcastic.

Microsoft provide a solid blue picture for you to use. You'll find it if you browse to C:\Windows\web\screen. Use img105.jpg

That's useful information. Thank you, Bree. And thank you for being the only one who understood my question -- although I do appreciate the efforts by the others.

By the way, I DID find that solution for myself, but the reason it didn't work is that I kept selecting a GIF to be my picture, and Windows won't let me select a GIF.

I believe you're looking for this setting.

Right click on Desktop, select 'Personalise' or goto 'Settings > Personalise'Select 'Lock Screen' on the left

Set 'Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen' to "Off"

The screen colour will follow whatever colour you have in your 'accent colour' settings

Zee, that sounds fabulous. However, after following those steps, I don't have an option that says "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen - On/Off".

I'm just not seeing such an option, and believe me, I have looked at that window repeatedly.

Sorry to hear that! Maybe this screenshot will help.

Sorry for not responding sooner, as I was sleeping.

Under the seven gray blocks with plus signs in them, I have the two green links, but that option does not exist for me. If it did, I would have turned the picture off already.

I would do a screen shot for you, but that's a lot of work, and there is no reason for me to lie. Also, this is a new computer for me, and I haven't yet installed my photo-editing program.

I wonder if you have a different build of Windows 10.

Hi... If the option is not available, you can try the old way of doing it.

    Fire up regedit.exe

    navigate to this key:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System
Right-click on the System key on the left side, and then select New. DWORD Value.
    Code:
    DisableLogonBackgroundImage
And Give it a value of:
    Code:
    1
Close Registry Editor and restart your computer. You should have a solid colour on login screen.

MaloK, that sounds like a good solution. However, early in the thread, someone advised me to use a Reg program which I downloaded from this site. I ran that program, and it didn't seem to make a difference. I'm not very technically oriented. Perhaps you could go back in the thread and tell me what I DID do when I ran that program. Thanks.

Ah, here is the tutorial that I got that Reg program from. It seems to say that it would do what you are suggesting I do, but as I said, it didn't work.

    Zinc,

First of all, sorry for calling you "Zee" before.

I was determined to get my photo-editing program working so that I could post a screen shot on this thread to show you that I don't have the option that you suggested I use, and here is the screen shot:

Hi Caleb, don't worry about the name thing.

I'm running the latest version of non-insider Home version of Windows.

To be honest, I've never used that setting, I use the reg file as it's more convenient. I'm surprised it didn't work for you, maybe you're on a standard user account which may have caused problems with the merge. I'm on an admin one and have never used standard due to the restrictions imposed.

Maybe someone else could clarify if a standard account would cause problems.

FYI, the instructions given to manually add the registry entry is what the reg file would do automatically.

Stumped for now, maybe clarify your account type to further suggestions..
