    Won't wake from sleep

I setup an older Compaq Presario with a new installation of W10 21h1. The device manager shows no yellow, or any marks and the computer runs well, but there is one problem. If the computer goes into sleep mode for over 5 minutes or so, it will not wake up and the monitor says no signal. I have shut off hibernate through an elevated cmd prompt but that made no difference. It will easily restart after a hard shutdown, but no way will it work after sleep.
    Thank you,
    Len

    Len,

1 Does this happen for another user account?
2 Does this happen in Safe mode?

If the answers are 1 Yes & 2 No, go to the Lenovo website & get another copy of the display driver then reinstall it even if it is the same version as the one you have now.

    Hello len,
    What is the output of

    Code:
    powercfg /devicequery wake_armed
when run from a powershell or command prompt?

This will tell us what devices are configured to wake the PC up.

    Hi Len,

There could be missing chipset drivers that are not showing in device manager, or Windows 10 may have installed drivers that are incompatible (probably too new). I have found that comparing the drivers (and software) listed on the manufacturers website to those installed in Device Manager can help to identify the culprit.

Also, both AMD and Intel have driver scanners on their websites. It might also be worth using the HP Support Assistant (if compatible).

    Hope this helps.

It did operate properly in safe mode. When I checked the cmd prompt, 3 things showed up: HID keyboard, Realtek PCIe family controller, and Kensington Orbit Trackball. There isn't a second profile to check. Thank you for your help

    Len,
I've learned that having a second account can be very handy for testing and in case your main account gets corrupt or something like that. I would recommend creating a second backup account with administrator privileges.

Add Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10

You can also check the HP website to make sure you have the latest BIOS and video driver.

For example, they have this model listed:
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers.../model/5111956

See if they have files for your model.

    Len,

    Then reinstall your display driver.
