Problem booting up PC with recovery USB

I have a problem with booting my PC from a USB drive. I have asked this question before but did not get any answer that worked !

I have made a recovery bootable USB drive using Macrium. It actually boots up to the Macrium screen ok but, and here is the problem, both the mouse and the keyboard functions are completely dead. So, when it asks me to continue by selecting anything on the screen I cannot navigate to it as the mouse is not disconnected. Obviously I cannot navigate with arrows as keyboard is also non-functioning. There is no power light on the keyboard either. Interestingly, I do not have this problem when I tried it on my Dell laptop - it booted up fine and the mouse/keyboard functions were both working perfectly. So, I think my problem is within my PC, not the USB stick (I tried using a different USB drive and same thing happening)

So, what can possibly be causing my PC OS to not capture the mouse + keyboard when booting from USB and how do I fix it??
To add to the puzzle, when I boot up my PC in the normal way, everything is fine and dandy, mouse and keyboard are fine.

    Help !!!!

    Hi,

Check if you have "USB legacy support" option in your bios and set it to enable on the ports you have your KB / Mouse connected.

    Hth.

    Problem booting USB recovery

Thanks MaloK for speedy reply. I am not an IT techie and have minimal skills but I went into BIOS on startup. These are the things I found:-

    1. Under BIOS power on tab the POST mode is set to quickboot
    2. On the tab that says USB security all the tabs on the right of popup say "enable" which makes me wonder if that means that they are all currently disabled. I have not changed anything.
    3. I cannot see anything referring to Legacy support.
    4. The boot order is all OK with USB being the first.

Don't forget, the problem is only when booting from a USB - the normal bootup is fine and everything works. It's just the mouse and keyboard (obviously both USB devices) do not work from the USB drive bootup.

Any more ideas or tips of things to look at or change ???

Are the mouse and keyboard plugged into blue USB ports? If they are, plug them into black ports instead.

    USB bootup

I don't understand what BLUE ports are - however, I have tried swapping from the front ports to the ones at the rear and it makes no difference.

Go into your Bios setup. On some machines you'll find that bios support from booting from a usb, and enabling the usb ports at boot are two separate and independent settings. Both need to be enabled, the default for enabling usb ports is often 'no'.
