Old mb has packed up & i dont want to lose my bookmarks/passwords etc
or any way of recovering passwords on M10 drive using external usb case on my laptop

Windows will probably sort itself out. You might have an issue with activation - unless you have a separate license for the new machine, or you can transfer the activation by some convolution with an ms account. I would prefer fresh install of windows,but havn't got my bookmarks backed up,is there a way to recover them please.
Did you use Bitlocker on the old system? If you did, and no longer have the key then all bets are off.
If not, then there should be no problem with booting the drive in a new motherboard. As SIW2 says, Windows should sort out the drivers it needs when it first boots on a new system. I have swapped drives out of PCs with Intel processor and graphics and into others that have AMD hardware without issues.
Activation may be an issue, but the Activation Troubleshooter is designed to help with this. Worst case, others in a similar situation to you have reported that a call to Microsoft support explaining that the motherboard had to be replaced usually ends up with MS activating it for you.

If you do have an external case you could put it in, then it should be possible to make a system image of the drive with Macrium Reflect Free, then use viBoot to boot that image as a virtual machine. Reflect v7 Free supports Hyper-V, the Reflect v8 Trial adds support for VirtualBox.

I routinely transfer a copy of my Firefox profile from my main machine whenever I do a clean install on a new PC.
You need to find your profile folder on the old drive. This will be in a folder like this:
C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\azyt9odm.default (or some other random character string)
Install Firefox on a new PC, then locate its profile folder. Delete its contents and replace with the contents from the old profile folder. All your bookmarks, login cookies, FF settings, etc. will now be on the new PC.
