First thing to find out is why you have Yellow triangles on the drives. Normally it means that there are missing drivers. Open device manager. Is there any yellow alerts of missing drivers?

As you already mentioned the files are probably on the new drive.
Set explorer options to show hidden and system files. Than do a search on the drive for a folder name.

I did it last week to a laptop, the user folder opened just fine, the first time it took some time but it automatically did the permissions thing (had to enter credentials of previous user account). I would just check that Bitlocker wasn't enabled.
She may have been using bitlocker on the old drive. I could try putting the old drive back in and booting it up, but the whole thing is ungodly slow, which is the reason for doing all this in the first place.

If you could see the files on the drive on your computer I guess Bitlocker wasnt used.

Going by the yellow triangles on the drives, I suspect that is a warning that Bitlocker is not activated. I had that on my drives before.

Where did you copy the files to? Is it possible you copied them to a user folder that wasn't active, or assigned to the new user account.

Have you gone to C:\Users, to take a look or have you only been looking in the user folders of the new account?

You could also navigate to the C:/ drive, find the search box and type in *.jpg. That would search for all jpegs. Then if it finds any of the photos, right click on one and select, open file location.

Yes it is, How did you proceed to copy your files ? Normally once connected to your dad's account with the old drive connected as secondary, You should be able to take ownership of the files and copy them where you want.

Don't copy the whole User Profile. Just copy pictures to pictures Video to Video etc...
Following the thread, At this point I'm also sure you have Bitlocker enabled on the old drive, The best way would be to boot the locked drive and copy all the required files to an un-encrypted disk. before.
