    Quite a small number..

    Noted Onedrive of course.

The overlay doesn't fit the description of Onedrive icons, so now you need to review the other startup sections listed by Autoruns, looking for anything less common that might be responsible. You can disable anything non-MS to see if it's that and if by no other means, identify the culprit by a process of elimination.
Thanks for the help, but what you're describing seems a bit unfeasible to me. I was planning to switch to Zorin anyway, so this seems like a good starting point.

Well, as it seems the icons can't be identified, the initiative rests with you to find and discover the item responsible, presuming it's a program on your PC.

    You could try-
    - a clean boot
    - Safe Mode
    - create a new user for test purposes and log in as that user.

If you find a scenario when this does NOT occur, you have a basis for comparison.
