    A couple of unfamiliar popups

A couple of unfamiliar popups-clipboarder.2021.10.15.png This one I have been getting frequently for some time. It does not say what program it is refering to. Maybe if I find what it is it will help with some of my current issues?

The second 'popup' is recent but appears every time I launch Windows. it is a largely empty Window called Layout Manager for which I will send an image if required. From my searches it seems it could be related to a number of apps, but possibly Edge and recent updates? It may be a new feature which I do not understand.

Use a third-party search utility to search for autoupdate.exe and/or that .bpl file. It could be worth setting File explorer to show hidden & system files first.
    - I use NirSoft's SearchMyFiles

I suspect it's a component of a third-party application that you have uninstalled but that failed to remove a reference in the Startup folders / Registry. Check these:-
    - Task manager, Start-up tab
    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    - %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    - MS SysInternals AutoRuns but the current version has several problems so just run it and look through for any mention of autoupdate.exe or that bpl [which I would expect to be coloured yellow] then post back here if you find anything. Include a [trimmed up] screenshot of the entry showing it.

As for the 2nd popup, I think seeing the dialog is essential.

    Bes of luck,
    Denis

Hi, get a copy of Winspy (free)
    WinSpy download | SourceForge.net

Drag the finder tool over the window in question and you will be able to see process name and path & more.

    That's a good starting point.

    Google suggests

    What is rtl120.bpl?
    What is rtl120.bpl?
rtl120.bpl is part of Borland Package Library and developed by Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. according to the rtl120.bpl version information.

rtl120.bpl's description is "CodeGear Component Package"

rtl120.bpl is digitally signed by Auslogics Software.
    rtl120.bpl is usually located in the 'c:\Program Files\Windows NT\Registry Cleaner\' folder.
    - tho' the reference to Auslogics may be just one example of possible usage.

This appears to relate to a Borlands code component package dynamic linked library, so probably a C++ or similar support file. It would likely be installed by many apps the same way a lot of games require D3D9 and MS VC files even though the latest DirectX and OS updates are already installed. The file is available for free at several internet repositories, be very careful if you decide to download it separately, and you would probably need to use the regsvr command to register it for use.
The easiest way is, as others have suggested, determine which app requires the file and re install it to fix the error.

Layout Manager could be a Chrome/Edge extension:

Chrome Web Store > Extensions > Layout Manager

Right, thanks I will do as suggested. My year old TabletPC, which has been healthy since I bought it, seem to be coming out in a lot of rashes at the moment

I tried to install WinSpy, twice. The first time it was deleted. The second time it generates an error saying it cannot display the icon.

You don't install it [from dalchina's link anyway]. It is a portable application.
    - You just unzip the downloaded zip file then run its WinSpy64.exe
    - Do not try to just open the zip file and run it from within there. That would definitely cause an error of the type you saw.

Thanks for the advice about WinSpy --- years ago I tried mobile / portable files (to save space) but I seem to have forgotten about them (along with much else).

This is a screen clip of the persistent popup re Layout Manager. It is not at all informative so I will be following up the suggestions above, when I have untangled my machine from the colossal Catch 22 muddle which has resulted in my being locked out of my Microsoft Outlook account (threads elsewhere).

Perhaps you can disable Layout Manager until you have sorted out your other problems.
Layout Manager is a browser add-on. I know nothing else about it.

    All the best,

Searching for autoupdate.exe returns a score of apps, no indication of which one is relevant
Searching for rtL120.btl just returns 'no items match your search'
