Windows time service startup type all grayed out

Hi there, I am having an issue with the Windows Time Service. My computer isn't syncing to the proper time and hasn't been for over 2 years now. I have tried hundreds of tutorials all repeating themselves. But most if not all of them come to a dead end because the Windows time service properties is all faded so I can't do anything with it. Why is it like this?

Welcome to the forum. If you goto setting then time and date what are the setting there? You can hit sync now if you want

Unfortunately that didn't work. I don't think It will be able to sync because the service is locked. I can't start it, stop it, pause it...nothing.

Look for clues in the Event Viewer: Microsoft-Windows-Time-Service/Operational

My Windows Time service is set to manual and doesn't show running, but synchronization still works - so the service starts and stops as needed as confirmed in the Event Viewer messages I see.

    Hi,

I you don't want to bother yourself with that until your next big upgrade... Use a third party time Sync software.

Most of the time I use NetTime and my country NTP.org pool servers.

    ca.pool.ntp.org
    us.pool.ntp.org

This software is flawless and also have a server included, so you can use your own server to sync time on your network.

Do you have other PCs that sync properly on the same network?

That would indicate that the network external to your PC is not blocking NPT access on UDP port 123 required for Window Time sync to work.
