Booted into Safe Mode without issue although I heard the all too familiar ERROR sound in the background ...
You have not mentioned this before.
    - What other problems do you have with this computer?
    - What error sound?

-and when exactly does that sound occur?
E.g. About how long after pressing the power button...
What's on the screen before and after it..

Man guys, after I select reboot it's like a millisecond and I see the error window and it's immediately obscured by the logoff screen. That's why I sent the error logs. There's no way to capture it.

And is it the same if you power down and perform a cold boot?
I.e. does it occur as part of shutdown/restart starting, or as part of booting?
Your description sounds more like the first.

You assumed correctly. It is only part of the normal shutdown process. No error on bootup.

    No error on bootup.
    - that's actually good news, I think!

The option of an in-place upgrade repair install remains as above; whether it will solve your problems is a matter of trying it.

Are you talking about just reinstalling windows over the existing windows?

See my post #20 for simple instructions, or the tenforums tutorial which covers that in great detail.

Forgive me, I'm new here. I haven't a clue where Post #20 is or how to get the info from it. Simpler instruction could have been yes or no, LMMFAO>

Clicking a folder in explorer opens another window and another window-1.jpg

Can you see the #29 in the orange square?
Can you see the post before is #28?

Do you now think you can find post #20?

    Thank you for your criticism.
