PC Crashed no BSOD just froze blackscreen then reset

So my PC just decided to crash. Froze for a few seconds then went to a black screen and proceeded to reset. No BSOD error screen or anything. Currently running Latest updates on Windows 20H2

That's a bugcheck alright! When Windows reboots itself like that.

Now, you need to check the event log!

Guess i see 2 things. One is an error source volmgr saying dumb file creation failed due to error during dump creation and then a critical one which is just :the system rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding crashed or lost power unexpectedly.

Hello, sounds like too much temperature or your power supply is not supply enough current.

None of those are the crash report. It looks like it failed to even log a bugcheck.

Just making sure we are on the same page. Event viewer > Windows logs > System right?

How I check it, is to right-click on the Start menu button and select Event Viewer, then select "Event Viewer (Local)".

Thermal shutdown or PSU problems can cause this. First check your CPU temperatures then fans and dust build up if too high.

Hmm i just recently cleaned this up but i guess i will get HW monitor running. Was just about 2 months ago i put back in my 3070 after getting a replacement for it. Right now im running a render so CPU is going 100% and the temperature hasnt exceeded 79 degrees so it 100% isnt the CPU overheating at least...

It could be the fact im using one daisy chain cable on my 3070 instead of 2... People do recommend using a 2nd cable instead of just 1 daisy chained...

Would the error still show anywhere in event viewer? could have sworn i was checking in the right place.

Crashes due to power are usually not reported. Definitely use good supply cables to the GPU and check your PSU has adequate output.
