It's not a Windows fault! It is (Google) Android that saves Height as Width and Width as Height in the mp4 meta data.

Solution: - load the mp4 into Adobe Express, select the 'resize video' function and simply select the size it is now. Download. The result will be an identical video with the meta data corrected.

    Adobe Express is free online.

There is a slight chance Windows might have a built in editor like Movie Maker or Easy Movie Maker but I really not into those right now.

    Hi all,

I have a .mp4 video file on my computer that was recorded vertically via cell phone, with the resolution 1080 x 1920 (width x height). However, when I go into the properties menu of this file, Windows believes that the video is 1920 x 1080 (width x height) - normally this would not be a problem, except that all of my video editing software reads that data from Windows and crops and compresses and squashes the video in exciting and interesting ways when I try to open it, since it's being told that the video is wide and not tall.

Is there a way to edit the video properties via Windows or some other utility to correct the resolution?

    Thanks!

!! note adobe literally dropped support and service for many of it's older products and you could use freely, but you still need a key !!

Adobe Premiere Pro Premiere Pro literally was made by the same person who made "Final Cut" for the Mac.
This is for your basic video editing needs. Could also split audio from the file and export.

Adobe After Affects is used to apply final touches. Like adding 3d, special effects, and so forth ( as where Final Cut has this included ). You could do multiple things with this program including animate.

Adobe Media Encoder ( depends on what release ) is able to convert your media to a usable type, which would result in a large file size.

Handbrake is free and your able to convert or even shrink a file to a Mp4/M4v etc format that is usable on most recent smart-TV models. You could also take an unnecessary large file and actually correctly convert it to be smaller without losing quality.

    .............................

If it was me and I want to keep my video the way it is, I would pull it into After Effects and set the video size to correct size ( upright like a rectangle or big enough to hold the entire file ). Then place the video on the timeline and line it up correctly then export. I would also consider putting a background or something for the back if your going the regular video route.
Premiere Pro can do this but is more basic and strict.
