hp pavilion notebook 17g140nr won't power on

I was asked to help out some one today with a laptop that won't power on. There's no light when it's plugged in and it's the same thing when the battery is taken out and the laptops plugged in. I was told that no sound was made the last time it was turned off.

I've looked on hps support page to find a manual and unless it's hidden I couldn't find one.

Summary: laptop wont power on at all and there's no power light when it's plugged in.

Thanks in advance for your help 😊

    Model: hp pavilion notebook 17g140nr
    Serial Number: 5cd612bjss

Disconnect power cable and battery, hold down power button for a 1 minute after ding that connect that battery and power on laptop if the laptop power on that could mean power supply could be bad.

If the laptop doesn't power on repeat the same think for power supply.

I didn't even think to have her drain the capacitors. I'll have to have her try that later. Thank you.

The best option is sending it to the manufacturer for a repair if your laptop is under warranty.

There should be a CR2032 battery you could try replacing if you can access it or try the HP BIOS recovery procedure https://support.hp.com/th-en/product...ment/c02693833

What voltage is output from the PSU when tested wit a multimeter?

I'm not able to get my hands on the laptop to answer the question as far as multimeter goes but the bios recovery procedure I'll look into.

Replacing the cmos battery crossed my mind but I asked the client if her computer was able to keep track of the time and the client said yes and when I asked if the laptop received any errors before or after the hp logo screen and I was told no.

My Gigabyte motherboard fails to boot if the CMOS battery voltage drops below 2.8V and show no signs of life until the battery us replaced

I'm hoping it's the cmos battery. I'm glad to know that's still an issue now a days. It's an easier fix then some of the other stuff out there
