I was able to get my hands on the laptop and I seen that the power jack was ripped out of it so in the next couple of weeks I'm gonna replace the power jack and it should be fixed

So I replaced the power jack and now I have constant power when the power cord is plugged into it but when I press the power button the power button lights up for 2 seconds powers off and so does my power indicator light but then the power indicator light turns back on

Post #11 "the power jack was ripped out"
Does that mean that the new power jack isn't able to connect solidly?

Im almost wondering if the motherboard is fried. i noticed there was a soda like substance on one of the motherboard caps which i cleaned off with rubbing alcohol and a qtip.

    1. I also tried 1 ram module at a time in each ram channel to see if it would startup
    2. I removed the heatsink cleaned off the old thermal compound and applied new thermal compound
    3. I removed the cmos battery for a couple minutes
    4. I put a working ram module in and took the other ram stick out. tried the working ram stick in each channel.
    5. I tried seeing if the computer would post if i took the hard drive out
    6. I charged the batter for a bit and pressed the power button
    7. I took the battery out and just had it plugged in

But each thing i tried... the power indicator light stays on and i press the power button which lights up then turns right off as well as the power indicator light from the power jack and then the power jack light turns right back on but no beeps or nothing.

and looking on the motherboard there's no burn marks and nothing smells like a burnt mobo component

The laptop is only about 5 years old.

I would replace the CMOS battery with a new one.
A few years ago, a friend's laptop wouldn't power on.
I don't have the tools like I use to have but when I got the laptop, I replaced the CMOS battery.
That doesn't mean that's always the answer but, in that case, it posted alright, and the rest was history.

When you connect the new charger, let it charge for a while like 15-30 minutes before starting up the laptop.
    Is the laptop battery removable?
If so, remove it and see how the laptop reacts with only the charger connected.

Here are a couple of ideas to consider in case booting up eventually becomes possible.
Since there isn't any beeping, Google activate laptop beeps.
I wouldn't know which choice to use but see what you think.
Go back to post #12 and see if the beep codes are in the manual.

I'll make sure to give a new cmos battery a try.

If a liquid fried the motherboard I wouldn't be getting indicator lights and I'd see some kind of burn mark right?

I tried a new cmos battery and nothings changed. I'm gonna mark the laptop up as a bad motherboard and part it and toss it.

I took the motherboard completely out and looked on the other side of it and seen a decent sized spot of what could of been Pepsi or dr pepper right on top of where current traffic would be going through and it looked sizzled. I probably should have used a multimeter to test volts and what not but I'm just marking it up as a bad motherboard.

Thanks for all your help guys problem solved
