My PC randomly shuts down and restarts

My PC has had this reoccurring problem for over a year and it's gotten worse. It used to shut down and restart after playing somewhat demanding games, however it briefly stopped for a couple months and was back. So I just took a break from playing games on my pc and tried to get it checked by a pc specialist at my local town, he said all the hardware was fine apart from the HDD, with cases like these usually its the PSU that should've been faulty but it wasn't (although this was checked last year so maybe it's in a worse state). Either way, I tried reinstalling windows 10, but it also didn't fix the random restart issues. Now my PC just restarts after less demanding tasks such as surfing the web, although it does take longer for it to get restart compared to playing a game, a game of high demand will likely make it restart in a matter of minutes.

Not really sure how to diagnose whats causing the problem of it restarting, so some advice and help on how to isolate it would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

Did you ever replace the HDD?
A computer that restarts on it's own is usually overheating. Make sure there is no dust inside the case and that all fans are spinning and are not obstructed by any wires. Boot into Setup (Bios) and go to PC Health or some such and check the temperatures. You may need to reapply Thermal Paste between the Heat Sync and the Processor.

I would suggest looking at Event Viewer.
There's a lot of entries in there, but I'm sure there should be logs of information of why your computer is deciding to turn off. Maybe someone else can help contribute in this field of possibly figuring out what's going on.

See if Reliability History has entries covering the problem.
    If so,then---view tech details---lines 1 & 2 should provide usable information.

No I haven't replaced the HDD at all, I probably should asap I just didn't think that alone was causing the computer to crash and restart. My fans are usually fairly clean I do hoover off the dust every so often but I have noticed that my computer is louder than it used to be so maybe overheating is an issue - however whenever I touch the case it doesn't feel abnormally hot at all.

After looking into event viewer I have noticed I get a critical error called 'Kernel-power 41'

Thanks for reply, I checked it unfortunately it didn't provide anything useful - it just has errors saying windows didn't shut down properly but not giving a reason as to why.

Yea I checked event viewer, I have logs of errors consisting of 2 things: 'Windows not shutting down properly' and 'Kernel-Power 41'

Is the HDD in question the main OS HDD with Windows on it, or is it a secondary HDD for data storage? If a secondary HDD unplug it and see if that improves the problem.

The HDD is the main OS HDD, I have no other HDD apart from that one.

Backup any files you want to keep onto another drive. And replace the internal HDD as ASAP before it stops booting all together.

What should I do after if the HDD replacement doesn't solve the problem?

We can burn that bridge when we come to it.

If you're drive is dying it would cause these problems.
