    Half of RAM 'Hardware Reserved'

I have 32GB of RAM installed and half is "hardware reserved" by Windows. I've tried every suggestion I can find, including moving the modules around to different slots. My MB does not have onboard graphics.

    Specs:
    • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AX370M-DS3H (BIOS on latest firmware)
    • CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X (upgraded from 1700x and it didn't help)
    • RAM: Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16 Memory Kit
    • GPU: Nvidia RTX-2060 Super

The BIOS, Windows, CPUZ and HWInfo all show 32GB installed and both slots used, but Windows says "Hardware Reserved: 16.1GB".

This was occurring on Windows 10. I am currently running Windows 11 (beta channel) and it didn't help. I also upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 7 1700 with no change.

Update BIOS firmware to see it will resolve the problem.

Reset BIOS to its default setting.

Have a look at setting in BIOS that can be use for setting hardware shared memory limit.

I've looked through all the BIOS settings and don't see anything resembling "hardware shared memory limit." Is there a specific setting I should look for? If the BIOS is at fault, would it still recognize both sticks and all 32GB? Isn't Windows to be the likely culprit?

This mb does not have integrated graphics. I've tried setting BIOS settings to default optimal but it didn't help.

Are you sure motherboard support 32GB RAM?

What happens if you use one stick of RAM?

    From MB website:
    "
    • 4 x DDR4 DIMM sockets supporting up to 64 GB of system memory
    • Dual channel memory architecture
    • Support for DDR4 3200(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2667*/2400/2133 MHz memory modules
    • * Actual support may vary by CPU.
    • Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules (operate in non-ECC mode)
    • Support for non-ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8/1Rx16 memory modules
    • Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

    "

When I have just one of the sticks installed, Windows reserved only a few MB. Again, the BIOS and CPUz and HWInfo all show the memory installed at 32GB and dual channel enabled.

The BIOS has a section for "AMI Graphic Output Protocol Policy" with two options for "output select" with DP0 (currently selected) and DFP3. Anyone know what this is about?

According to your motherboard's manual (page 10) you should be using slots ddr4_1 and ddr4_2

For optimum performance, when enabling Dual Channel mode with two memory modules, we recommend that you install them in the DDR4_1 and DDR4_2 sockets

It would also be worth checking the bios settings for memory suit the memory you are using (page 24 onwards).

    Run msconfig
    Select Boot tab
    Select Advanced options
Make sure Maximum memory is unchecked
