if for example you take a screenshot (Snip & Stitch) renamed to Snipping Tool in W11, and try to save the file. You will see the Navigation Pane on the far right is fully expanded for THIS PC even though you DE-select [Expand to current folder].
Actually, I don't see that -- my Save As dialog opens with the Navigation Pane collapsed.
Have you collapsed the folders manually before saving the file or closing the dialog? You may be dealing with a simple save/restore of the previous view.
