Disappointments with Windows 10

Not sure why 10 did any of that Alex.

Hopefully you made a image of 7 with Macrium.

Did you upgrade 7 to 10 ?

OK so......

1) W10 doesn`t see your dvd drive and who is "they gave me a new one" is it very old or something ?

2) W10 Deleted your external drives ?

3) and this is the weirdest, you can`t use a Samsung monitor you purchased ?

and why would it need a program ?

Let`s see if we`re all on the same page.

Having Windows 7 for almost 9 years they promoted "10" as an improvement.
However, they neglected to say; it would delete the following:
1) Delete and/or recognize my Internal DVD Drive. they offered an alternative, which is not the same and doesn't even work.
2) Delete and/or recognize my 2 External Drives in which I stored, Backups, Documents, Program installations, etc. etc,
3) I purchased a Samsung c27f396fnxza, they provided me with a downloadable installation program.
When I did, I've got the message "Parameter is incorrect"

Conclusion; I was lucky and glad to find the Ten Forum website. in the hope, you would guide me to get out

Hi, there were reports of external disks being reported as RAW after certain upgrades. Not an issue I've looked into, but you can see if there's anything in these threads that may help:

Perhaps you could post a screenshot showing them using Disk Management or perhaps better a 3rd party partitition manager thus:


Unfortunately you've not given your PC specs. Click My computers under my post for comparison. Tutorial available.
How old is your PC? Is it specified to support Win 10? Were you offered Win 10 by Windows Update, or did you manually upgrade to Win 10?

In some cases, using the driver provided by the manufacturer for a specific device can help (even if the last available was for Win 7, say).

Windows 10 doesn't delete physical drives in the computer. Let's see if we can find them.
When your computer is booted up, can you press the Eject tray button on the DVD drive itself? Does it eject the tray? If so, it is getting power. It not, it's not plugged in.
Press the Windows key +X choose Device Manager. Do you have a listing for CD/DVD Rom Drives? If so, Windows recognizes your DVD drive. Also while here Expand Disk Drives, do you see your External HDD's here? If so, Windows recognizes them too.
Now press the Windows key +X and choose Disk Management. Scroll down to the lower pane, this shows all the drives on the computer. Do you see your DVD drive there? Does it have a Drive letter ? If not, you can Right click it and choose Change Drive letter or Paths. If it already has a drive letter, then you should see it in This PC under Devices and Drives.
You should also see your External Drives if they are plugged in here as well.
You do not need an installation program for a monitor. No software required. You may need to update your video driver though.

Due to the costs of licensing, Microsoft removed the Windows Media Player's ability to play DVDs in Windows 8 and later. For similar reasons Windows 10 also removes the Media Centre when upgrading from Media Centre editions of Win7 or Win8. These changes are documented by MS:

A good free alternative for playing DVDs is the VLC Media Player.
