    Strange boot up

I have just yesterday made a rescue USB with Macrium Reflect and now the machine has a start up screen (coloured blue) that gives me two options in different boxes the Windows 10 or the Macrium rescue.

Anyone got any idea how I can change this so it boots straight into Windows 10 as usual. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi John. You should be able to type msconfig into search and open it. Go to the boot tab and in the top will be both listed, just remove the Macrium entry and reboot.

You may (or may not) have sucessfully made the rescue USB. What you have certainly done is to select Macrium's rescue media builder's option to add Reflect to the boot menu. This gives you the ability to boot to the rescue environment from your hard drive without needing a bootable USB.

Run the rescue media builder again and select the 'Remove boot menu' option.

@essenbe's suggestion would also work, but doing it through Macrium should also delete the boot files it has put on your hard drive.

Thanks to both of you trouble is I am not that tech savvy and have got quite confused with the instructions in the back up and restore tutorial as I cannot make out why I just cannot make an external drive a back up drive that I can restore 10 back to my machine when I decide to upgrade to Windows 11 when it available - in case things go awry.
Actually I want to wait until the version is official and do that through an update.
Oh by the by this is what I have on that USB stick.

On second thoughts if the rescue option is left there would that be an option for restoring from an external drive as opposed too having to use the stick?

Yes, it would be. It's always reassuring to have more than one way to boot to the Reflect rescue environment. All my machines have the Reflect boot menu in addition to having made a recovery USB. For most restores I boot from the boot menu, the USB is good for when the disk gets too corrupted to boot from (or dies and has to be replaced).

The Reflect boot menu option is useful but you can delete it from within Reflect:

Thanks Steve but this morning when I booted up the option seems to have disappeared - time for a scan or two I think.
