    recovery usb

Just tried looking for Legacy Support option in BIOS but cannot find it anywhere. I booted using F10 but the only thing I can find anywhere near it is an option to Replicated setup then enable "Restore from removeable media" Is that it?? Otherwise, can you point me to how I can change BIOS setting??

I even tried going via Windows recovery/restart etc but there is no option there to change ??UEFI ?? settings.

I'm beginning to think that trying this Macrium Free as Cereberus noted in post #17 might prove better results.
Making system images is an essential component of any backup policy.

But system images will not 'recover' the OS as a 'Recovery drive' does.

Personally, I only use Installation USBs not Recovery drives but the reason I suggested it was to get an alternative [reliable] bootable USB. Knowing how the keyboard & mouse behave with an installation USB might help identify what he problem is with using the Recovery drive.
An installation USB made using Option 1 of
Create Bootable Installation USB - TenForumsTutorials
will work reliably so if you cannot use your USB keyboard & mouse when booting from it you can conclude that the problem is with the computer rather than anything to do with your Recovery drives.

I think you have a Bios computer not a UEFI computer so it does not have a legacy mode [it is a legacy mode, it is a legacy computer].

Similarly, you will not find any reference to Secure boot in your Bios.

In addition, after you make the standard Windows 10 installation USB flash drive, create a folder on it and export the drivers to the folder:
Backup and Restore Device Drivers in Windows 10

Then you are sure to have everything you would need.
    Yep.

    recovery usb

Ok people, before I finally give up and just rely on my trusty System Image on an external drive in case of problems, I'll just recap one more time where my problem is. I've followed all the tips you've kindly given but still have the problem:

    * When I boot up normally my mouse lights up during the boot up and so does my keyboard. They are both plugged into my PC's normal USB ports. They both work fine.

    * When I insert the Recovery USB drive that I made via Windows it boots up to the first blue screen ok but the mouse and the keyboard are NOT powered up. This also happens when I try to boot normally and go through the recovery/restart procedure. It boots up ok but mouse & keyboard are not showing. It seems that anything to do with recovery options freezes it all up.

    * The same USB stick boots up fine on my Laptop and I can navigate wherever I want ok.

So, if anyone has any bright ideas on what is causing this on my PC please let me know.

    Thank you all again,

    Barry

Be sure to plug your keyboard and mouse into a Black USB 2.0 port, rather then the Blue USB 3.0 ports until after the Install.
Boot into Setup (Bios) go to Advanced or Integrated Peripherals. Look for USB Legacy Support. If that is disabled, using your arrow and Enter keys, Enable it. Save and Exit.
Be sure to your wired USB Mouse and Keyboard are plugged in when you start the Windows Installer rather then at the choose Keyboard screen. You can switch back to the Wireless keyboard and mouse once you have installed Windows.
