How to stop messages appearing In notification area?

I have a desktop computer with Win 10. 21H1. When I receive an email in Office Outlook or a new message through Facebook Messenger a notification appears in a a black box in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The notification is only there for a few seconds but, is there some way I can stop these from appearing please?

Hi, you could see if this tutorial helps:
Turn On or Off Showing Notifications in Action Center in Windows 10

Should allow you to turn off notifications per app/program.

When the Action Center gets a new notification, it will briefly show a notification banner above the taskbar notification area to let you know.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off showing notifications in action center from specific apps and senders for your account in Windows 10.
Otherwise the program itself may have a relevant setting.

What I am trying to do is turn off Notification Banners for Facebook. This is all explained in the tutorial except Facebook is not one of the listed apps that appears in the list. Any thoughts please?

As you don't have an app for that, it - well- won't have an option listed in Settings for apps...

There is a Facebook Messenger app I found.,. and you mention Facebook messenger, but as for Facebook- I don't use that, so I can only suggest you research that.

    Try e.g.

I keep getting little pop ups from Facebook in the lower right hand screen of my laptop, but I don't have any notifications turned on. I cannot figure out how to stop them from popping up!

I have turned off Notifications/Browser - push notifications in Facebook settings. Not sure whether this will stop messages appearing, we will see.
