I solved the issue by associating my video and audio files with VLC media player

Joe's solution worked for me, too. I downloaded VLC media player, then I associated all video with VLC, then thumnails updated. Thanks for posting a solution, Joe!

This didn't work for me unfortunately--and I REALLY wanted it to! I downloaded VLC, installed it, then associated all my video files with vlc but it still didn't cause the video thumbnails in the preview pane to update. I restarted my latop twice and still no-go.

Is there a preferred way to assign my files to play in vlc so that the video thumbnail bug is fixed?

Here is a video of the issue, if anybody is able to help: https://vimeo.com/138204107

I'm really surprised there hasn't been more said about this, and the only fix--for some people at least--has been to install vlc and set it as the default video player, which is a pretty shoddy workaround, imo.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I went to Best Buy today and did some tests and ALL the machines there experience the same bug -- and all are running Windows 10 Home Edition build 10240.

Again, if someone found an alternate fix beside the vlc one, please offer it here -- thanks in advance!
