Went in to get a few checked and got HP PC with 11th generation i3 processor.
Is that a refurb? It is very recent.

Thank you everyone. Really appreciate all quick comments.

I checked MAR list and half of them seemed to work with businesses only. A handful that had refurbs, the cost was not really competitive for the configuration.

After reading 2 MicroCenter comments, I checked their website. They had good devices for the price. Went in to get a few checked and got HP PC with 11th generation i3 processor. I didn't like the overall experience though. They wouldn't let me check the machine before paying. The warranty cost was $90 for a year, which I thought to be steep. They do have 15 days return policy and 90 days manufacturer warranty. I just hope that I don't need to use the warranty.
My previous Toshiba Satellite A505-S9005 from Bestbuy gave an excellent service for last decade. I hope this at least gives me 5 years.

    Thanks again, folks.

    Hi,
Yes bestbuy can also be a good place to check forgot about them.

Micro center has been getting zapped by that instore warranty perk so they increased it people were using it more for an easy upgrade tool rather than failure protection plus now they have to confirm issues before auto refund of instore credit is given.

Ran into this on a mother board return luckily they confirmed the issue.

Yes. The model is obscure though. Initially, couldn't figure out the details. Even now if I enter the model number, nothing much come up but if I enter some other code on the back, comes up with other model name. Not too sure whats the deal with it. I am just hoping that it works fine.

Good to know about Microcenter. BestBuy stores around me are not really well stocked. You may not even find a regular stuff. Not too sure why they keep so many locations. Just keep one within a 5 mile territory but stock it well.

    Hi,
Think bestbuy will ship items store to store or direct ship from other locations to buyers this is something micro center doesn't do that I've noticed.

Poor stock is just the way things have been the last 1.5 years covid crap.
Amazon warehouse can have some good deals too on returns/ open box...

Prices are artificially high at the moment 'cos 'working from home' has pushed up demand for refurb kit like never before. MARs know the market will stand the present price hike 'cos there's little alternative except to buy new... for what may only be a temporary situation.

My current PC is a fourth gen Intel i5 bought from Newegg Canada, refurbed by Blair Tech. It was totally spotless in the inside so someone either put all new(ish) parts in it or spent a lot of time with a glass of soapy water and a tooth brush.

The display was supposed to be a 19" but they gave me a 24" instead. After win 10 is discontinued and if this computer is still working, it will make a sweet linux media server.
