Setting to wake PC from sleep with SINGLE keypress / mouse click?

I have 4 PCs. 3 of them are "normal" - they wake up in a single click / keyboard key press.

The last one only starts waking after 3 clicks / keypresses. Is there a reg setting somewhere I need to tweak for it to wake up immediately on 1 keypress?

It's a desktop (Ryzen 3600x), not laptop by the way.

Maybe it is just slow to respond? Try pressing the spacebar once and wait to test this.

Another possibility is the keyboard on that PC might have one or two faulty keys. Try a new keyboard.

Another possibility is that, if it is a Wi-Fi keyboard it could be a Wi-Fi communication problem. I had issues with Wi-Fi keyboards and I find USB wired keyboards to be more reliable.

    Hello @tententwenty,

Try using one of the Keyboards that DOES wake up the PC on the PC that does NOT wake up. This will tell you if it is a Keyboard problem or a PC [ setting ] problem.

    I hope this helps.

not a keyboard problem. tried before.

besides it also happens with the mouse. needs 3 clicks to wake up instead of 1.

If both keyboard and mouse are Wi-Fi/Bluetooth then it could be a flaky Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connection on that PC.

This sounds like it's a BIOS feature to prevent an accidental keypress or mouseclick from waking up the computer. Check your BIOS settings to see if there's a way to configure this behavior.

    Hello @tententwenty,

    Please perform the following . . .

     PowerCFG - Requests

[1] Press the Win + X keys together > Command Prompt (Admin).
    [2] Type PowerCFG -Requests 2>&1 > Enter.

    • The Output should say None for everything.
    • If NOT, the item[s] could possibly STOP the computer going to, or waking up, from Sleep.
    • Post ANY items that are NOT None.

    I hope this helps.

Mine is a B450 MSI Tomahawk motherboard, and there's no such BIOS feature.

A further diagnostic I use, press the WinKey and L to Lock it then see if a single key press gets back to the Login screen. Works with Wired, Wireless and Bluetooth mice.

    Settings\Advanced\Wake Up Event Setup

▶ Wake Up Event By [BIOS]

Selects the wake up event by BIOS or operating system.
[BIOS] Activates the following items, set wake up events of these items.
[OS] The wake up events will be defined by OS.
