    Task Scheduler Password

When I use to use my task scheduler to create a task I never had to enter a password at the end. I just clicked on the blank space and I was good to go. I recently had a problem with my Desktop PC that required me to do a reinstall of windows 10. Now I get an error message wanting a password when I try and create a task. How can I fix this so it's the way it use to be? Thanks.

Go Task scheduler find the problem task & check whether run when user is logged in is checked or run whether logged in or not is checked. If logged in or not is checked it will not show you this password box.
Check too that the account which the task is set to run under is the admin account.
Also if the task is set to run as admin this box will also pop up.

I followed these instructions exactly in the past and presently. But now it wants a password. Something has changed in the computer. Automatically Create System Restore Point on Schedule in Windows 10

    Yes, Admin on both counts.

if the task is set to run as admin then the Password Box will appear. If you don't want the password box to apper, then don't set the task to Run As Admin.

You avoid a lot of password requests by running Task scheduler itself as Admin.

You should then find that you will only be challenged for a password if you set up or alter a task that has a different user.

In the past with Task scheduler I never had to do that and it worked fine but I did as you suggested and had the same result.

Sorry, I do not think I am going to be able to help you.

The only problems I have had have been with tasks set to run with different users [not the one used to open Task scheduler or, if applicable, the one used to give Admin permission to open it].
And I assume your are referring to the Task scheduler user interface not the SchTasks command.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Thank you Denis. I'll keep working on it.

I FIXED IT!!! Kinda did it in a round about way but now my PC automatically creates a restore point every time it starts up as it did before. Here is what I did first I followed these instructions so I wouldn't need a password.
" By default, Windows requires a password for a scheduled task. However,
you may disable this with the following registry change:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Lsa

    limitblankpassworduse
Change the value in the Value Data box from 1 to 0

Then, check the "Run only if logged on" box in the scheduled task.

The task will now continue to run when the user periodically changes their
domain password without the need to change the scheduled task password.
