What's the Best Way to Manage Fonts on Windows 10?

In prepping for my imminent switch from Macs to PC, I've been reading/watching information of the default method for installing fonts. Is this the way most people use?

What about large numbers of fonts ( a mix of downloads and commercial foundry, mostly TTF). What's the best way to store, install and generally manage them on W10?

On a Mac, you double click the font file, it asks if you want to install it, and if you click yes, it installs it all from the Finder. Is there something similar on a PC?

How do you handle your fonts?

    Thanks, emcee2

1st thing you need to know about Fonts. The more you have installed, the slower your boot time.
So only install fonts you really plan to use a lot.
With that said... just put the TTF file on your desktop, right click and choose "install".

You can also go to... Settings > Personalization > Fonts...

When you click on any FONT on the Font page, you can choose to uninstall that font or change the font size.

Most Windows-based programs install their own Fonts if not already included in the Windows installation. Some may store the actual Font in their program but put a shortcut in the Fonts folder, one such I have is Creative Home, a publishing type program. The only real issue I've seen over the last several years has been the discontinued Microsoft Works that would pop up a warning if more than 500 Fonts were installed but never caused a problem. Installing Fonts in Mac OS X wasn't much different than Windows [my MacBook Pro died just as macOS came out but it was from 2010]. Historically, back in Windows 1, 2 and 3 there was a necessary Font Management program to be installed but that started changing with Windows 95.

The main Font is TrueType/.ttf but sometimes might see the OpenType/.otf. In the Taskbar Search start with Font to get more information, I preferred the Fonts folder in Control Panel things are a-changing.

Thanks everyone, much simpler than I we afraid of. I was watching a basic "Windows for beginners" video and it did not show the ability it install from Explorer, thus my concern.

As a graphic designer, I do have a lot of fonts. A font management tool would still be nice.

    ADDED:

Does anyone have any experience with any of these?

    NexusFont
    AMP Font Viewer
    Font Manager
    FontBase
    Font Xplorer

Might check this Search page, has lots listed and both free and paid:
    font manager at DuckDuckGo

Forgot to post this clip of my Fonts folder, shows the shortcut arrow I had mentioned, these are part of what is included in the program's folder:
    D:\Creative Home\Hallmark Card Studio 2019 Deluxe\Fonts

I use a font manager called NexusFont. You can move fonts to different folders and uninstall the ones you don't need right now. While NexusFont is running, programs like Microsoft Word can use fonts from NexusFont folders even if they're not installed in the Windows font folder.
