    Start Search and press the Windows key + the Down arrow to minimize. Or hold down the CTRL key, and use the middle scroll wheel to reverse zoom.

    In the link that you sent to me in the PM. Why don't you read that and try some of those things? start menu - Windows 10 search opening in full screen (win+q) - Super User

    Reinstall Cortana using an elevated PowerShell prompt. Enter the following command and wait for the process to finish:
    Code:
    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    I know that this is an old thread, but since none of the suggested solutions and workarounds for this problem worked for me, I would like to post what worked in case someone else cannot find a solution.

    Here is what worked for me:
    1. Open the Windows 10 Start Menu
    2. Resize its height and width with the mouse, like any other window (I made it a bit taller and a bit wider and then resized it back)
    3. Close the Windows 10 Start Menu
    4. Done! The search window will now be the same size as the Start Menu

    As far as I know, since 20H2 the size of the search window can be adjusted independently of the size of the Start Menu, so apparently my search windows was "stuck" in some "maximized" state and I guess that resizing the Start Menu fixed this.

    Hope this helps someone!
