    Notifications panel problem?

    Windows version: 21h1 build 19043.1165
The notification panel on the right of Windows 10 pro will open when I click on the icon in the taskbar, but immediately (Within 2 seconds) shuts again? This makes it impossible to perform any action on items within the panel, I don't even have time to read anything before it closes?
Is this a bug (It never happened until very recently) or is there a way to increase the time it stays open?

Thanks for any help as this is driving me crazy!

    Hi, perhaps see e.g.
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...2-8d66d07ecb08

    You might also:
    - check your disk e.g. Hard Disk Sentinel (excellent)
    - if ok, from an admin command prompt run
    chkdsk c: /scan
    - if ok similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW

No problems found on chkdsk or sfc /SCANNOW.

    Thank you for your reply.

Good, but don't forget Hard Disk Sentinel - they are 3 different checks. And the link I gave you?

HD Sentinel: All 3 disks are perfect with no bad sectors or problems!
The link leads to a program that is no longer available from MS (to many reported bugs).

You don't say which link, alas, so I had to try them all.

If you are referring to the start menu troubleshooter, a little searching resolves that for you. Here's a tenforums tutorial:
Start Menu Troubleshooter in Windows 10

(Though personally I don't see a relation between that and the issue- nontheless clearly someone did so nothing lost).

Have you yet followed the other more interesting diagnostic option I often suggest:
    - create a new user for test purposes
    - log in as that user
    - see if you have the same problem

If so, an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data like any upgrade may help.

I really appreciate your help, there has been an improvement after a re-start, The notification panel appears when the taskbar icon is clicked, and if I try to move the cursor down the list of entries the panel will still close almost instantly, but if I right click the mouse button before I move down the panel, I am able to move down without it disappearing. The right click seems to fix the notification panel in place so I can brows it and read the contents without it closing, then a left click after I move the cursor off the panel closes it? I can live with this, but this action is different to the way it used to open with a left click and then stay open until I clicked off the panel to close it!
So thank you for your help all is now OK, it may be that an update from MS changed the panels behavior?

"it may be that an update from MS changed the panels behavior?"

That is certainly the case on a couple of my machines that have had Windows Updates today - notification panel was normal before the updates (I specifically checked this on the 2nd machine immediately before updating).

Possible, I suppose- you can check if you had one in the relevant period by looking at your Update History, or you may just have been lucky with the restart.
