    Confused BCD Editing

    Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 2009 (build19043.985)

I have four entries in my boot configuration but I only want three. One is incorrect but I am afraid that I will delete the wrong entry. My normal boot should be one entry and the other two entries should be (1) Macrium Reflect System Recovery and (2) Windows 10 Safe Mode with Networking. I am willing to delete all entries except for the one I should keep. I could then add the Macrium and Safe Mode entries.

Screenshots are the only way I know to accurately show what I see when I use the BCDEdit command.

When booting, I selected "Windows 10 Safe Mode with Networking" and have NOT booted into Safe Mode. I am not a "newbie" but this is beyond my knowledge and my age (over 75) has presented me with enough doubt to ask for help. Would someone please give me basic step-by-step instructions in order to get rid of the incorrect entry (or all three of the unnecessary entries?

    Thank you.

    Hello @yrralrellim,

Have you had a look at this? . . .

    > How to Delete Boot Loader Entry on Boot Options Menu at Startup in Windows

Also, have a look at the Related Tutorials at the BOTTOM of the Tutorial which might be useful.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you!

    Thank you very much!

I have two entries left .....
    Windows 10 (C:\WINDOWS) : Default OS
Windows 10 Safe Mode with Networking (C:\WINDOWS) : Current OS.

I believe that I should delete the second entry, "Windows 10 Safe Mode with Networking (C:\WINDOWS) : Current OS" but it will not permit me to delete that entry. It will permit me to delete the first entry but I have not deleted it yet.

I am disappointed that no one jumped in with assistance but with determination I was able to solve the problem, knowing that I had a full Windows backup in order to restore IF I made a mistake.

To fix my problem, I booted by selecting the NON-default option (listed first in my screenshots below). This first entry of course should have been the default option. After booting using this choice, I started "msconfig" and was (1) able to delete the erroneous option two "Windows 10 Safe Mode with Networking (C:\WINDOWS) : Current OS" and then (2) was able to change the first entry "(Windows 10 (C:\WINDOWS) : Default OS" to make it the default entry.

    Best regards.

    Not a problem!

I certainly understand that you had other things that took precedence.

    - remember help is given freely by volunteers, and it depends whether they are around and have seen your post and feel they can help. Sometimes they choose to leave a thread to the first responder.

Remember you paid nothing and so there's no guarantee on time or accuracy....
