    PC won't sleep anymore.

Last year, I ironically had a problem where my PC would wake up from sleep when it shouldn't. It was eventually solved.

    PC keeps waking up.

Now, I am having the opposite problem. I have the same settings I've always had, which is display should turn off after 20 minutes, and PC should sleep after 1 hour. Neither happen.

It's been like this for about a week.

    I am on Windows 10 version 19041.1110.

    In the---command---box,or Powershell,type in---powercfg /help---,press enter.
This will give you a list of subjects covering the sleep problem.See which are helpful,if any.

For troubleshooting purposes, set the monitor to go off in only 5 minutes and set the PC to go to sleep in 10 minutes,

Make sure no programs are prohibiting the system from going to sleep.

Check your power plan carefully, and also set any hardware that has any "Allow this device to wake up this PC" set to disabled.

    Post your results

Hi. If MoUso Core Worker process is an issue that wakes pc from sleep then try this override originally posted by mngerhold:
In an elevated command prompt paste
powercfg /requestsoverride process MoUsoCoreWorker.exe execution then enter.
To remove the override paste powercfg /requestsoverride process MoUsoCoreWorker.exe then enter.

When I run the elevated command prompt, as soon as the terminal launches, it thinks I'm pressing the "a" key and a bunch of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa are entered in the terminal.

When I run a normal command prompt, it does not think the "a" key is pressed.

I tried both several times, and I see the same results described.

Perhaps this is why my PC won't sleep?

    How do I fix this?

No, what's the best way to do that?

And any idea why this is only happening in an elevated prompt, and not anywhere else?

This was what worked for me.

Under device manager, I had two keyboards. They were both teh same.

I uninstalled the first one. The auto-press of aaaaa stopped.

I set my display to turn off after 1 minute. I ran the override command.

It didn't turn off after 1 minute.

Have you got a gamepad controller plugged in? If so it could be a faulty controller that has a analog stick drifting issue! This is preventing your computer from going to sleep!

I had a PDP Afterglow Xbox One Controller, which wouldn't go to sleep. Of-course when it did, it tended to wake my PC up. I diagnosed the problem as I noticed the controller was drifting on its own without moving the analog stick. When I unplugged the controller, PC was going to sleep as normal.

I now have a PowerA Xbox One Enhanced Controller and since there's no drifting issue, my PC is going to sleep normally after 10 minutes, which is what I set my sleep setting to.

How can I test out if my controller is drifting? I have a Logitech Rumblepad 2.

    An update:

I didn't change anything, but the monitor is now powering off when it should. A few days ago, I reduced it to 1 minute.

Today, it turned off after 1 minute.

    However:

    1) The PC still didn't go to sleep at the designated time, 60 minutes. It never went to sleep.

    2) While I could wake the monitor a few times today, after it turned off after 1 minute, there was one time where I couldn't unwake the monitor.

No amount of keyboard pressing or mouse clicking would turn the monitor back on.
