    CMD window flashing - "whferic"

    Hi, folks.
I'm having an issue with a CMD window flashing now and then. I reinstalled my whole computer a few days ago and had some issues with viruses when downloading a torrent. I could deal with that, but I still have this flashing window and I have not been able to make it disappear. I even had to record my screen to catch it, because the flashing is so fast.
    I'm running Win 10 Pro 20H2.

The screen is a CMD one, completely black. The title references to "C:\users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming\whferic".
I googled this "whferic" thing, but apparently it doesn't exist. 0 results.
On my computer, I could only find this:

A "whferic" hidden file, no extension; on "Properties", it says:
File description: "Microsoft .NET Assembly Registration Utility"
    Type: System file
    Version: 4.8.4084.0
    ...
    Original name: RegAsm.exe

    A "whferic.log" file, containing:
    Code:
    1,"fusion","GAC",0
    1,"WinRT","NotApp",1
    Two registry entries, on:
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\bam\State\UserSettings\S-1-5-21-3822717496-1127235177-3424497742-1001
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bam\State\UserSettings\S-1-5-21-3822717496-1127235177-3424497742-1001

    Both of them, REG_BINARY:
    \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming\whferic

¿Should I just erase all of that -if possible-? ¿Does "whferic" ring any bells?
    Thanks in advance.

What does Microsoft defender make if it? I assume you have right-clicked on it & scanned with it.

A flash of a CMD usually indicates a running process installing something. This could be Windows updating or what Try3 was indicating. Did you make and image of your clean install prior to running uTorrent?? This is a standard practice for me before doing anything ells. "Not uTorrent"

Found you on Windows 10: Windows 10 Forums This may help other to help you.

Well! It turns out that this link is blocked. I find that very interesting. Care to explain that??

I captured a PDF of the post. For those that want to take a look. I actually have an account on this sight as well with NO POSTS! I do not remember this site and I find that very ODD... This may have been years ago. I am 62 and memory fails. I had to put it into a 7Zip. To big. Take a look if your interested.

Nothing found by Win Defender, nor by Kaspersky or VirusTotal.com.

Win Update indicates everything is up-to-date. Unfortunately, I don't have an image prior to installing qbittorrent (uTorrent... the old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be ♫). Anyway, I'm pretty confident this is not malware/virus, but... then, what else?

I get 2 or 3 Command Prompt windows when booting up any of my computers, usually from Off, doesn't seem to be an issue as they don't last long, maybe a second or two.

The problem with this one is that it isn't just when booting up; it randomly continues to pop up. Twice an hour, on average. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm up to: surfing the web, playing Civ V, editing on Premiere, watching anything on VLC... so it's quite annoying.

This all started after the uTorrent download if I'm correct.

Backup and scan your stuff. If it's clean save it. This is a pain in the ass yes. But if you are infected this is the best way to go to make sure your clean. All the virus and malware experts here will say otherwise. Start clean and start over. It's the only way to be sure. Now image your system after you have all you need... -uTorrent... Post back after your clean install. I have no doubt your issue will be resolved. Sometimes extreme measures need to be taken and a clean install is less painless then fighting an infection. Clean Slate... Now that you have imaged your system... Reimage once a week and you'll never have an issue again. O! And only have the main drive connected. Use remote drives for data access and disconnect them after needed. This is a safe procedure and saves you data.

By the way. uTorrent is an excellent app if used legally. You can shoot yourself in the foot otherwise. And it looks as you did.

You could try a system restore. I stand by my post #7 That will get you clean. But that's an option.

No doubt you're correct; start clean and over will surely make problem go away. But that was not the key of this post; what I'm trying to figure out is what the heck is this little 'whferic' thing. At this point, nothing makes me think that is a virus/malware (or, at least, not a dangerous one: it's been almost a week since that little window appeared).

This started after the issue I had with a torrent download, but, at the same time, it started after installing several programs: Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, plugins, Office, and so on.
I'm quite positive this is related to MS (not long ago, OneDrive and Office caused a similar problem with some automatic/scheduled tasks), but I'm also quite surprised not to find a single result when googling it. I'm curious to find out what this is.

BTW, the log file I previously referenced is located on:
    C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\CLR_v4.0_32\UsageLogs

Oh, and I used to love uTorrent. But nothing lasts forever.

Well, finally I just got tired and took the chance: made a restoration point, backed up the registry entries and the 'whferic' file, and deleted them. No sign of problems and, fortunately, the cmd window is gone.

Thanks to everyone who answered this. Much appreciated.
