    No.

This is a new computer I haven't had a chance to back up yet.

The next option, is a clean install, but I'm not ready to do that yet.

Hey, Wynona, listen, I know you outrank me by a long shot here (with your gold and gold), but I want to remind you that

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

is quick, easy, painless, and fixes LOTS of annoying little glitches that just pop up for no good reason and are the dickens to get rid of. I've done it twice recently on two machines, and about the only things I had to do afterwards were replace a custom icon and delete the new Windows.old folder. A snap. A breeze. Any other idiom you can think of for "easy-peasy." And all of the annoyances I'd noticed -- and probably some I hadn't yet discovered -- disappeared.

    Try it; you'll like it.

    Hi Wynona...

Me too - but only started about 4 days ago - possibly with 2021-08 Cumulative Update (for 21H1) - KB5005033
*Only* QL on the Taskbar demands 2 clicks now - from 1 as of several days ago.
All other icons on the Taskbar or Tray (or Desktop) only need 1 click.

And it happens on all 4 of my computers.
One - which was off for about 10 days - QL was fine on boot this morning - until I installed last week's updates.

But - since early XP - I place my Taskbar to the top. And I also use Start10 to have a Win7-sty;e menu.
I found that moving the Taskbar to the bottom brings QL click behavior back to expected.

I had also found - a few months ago - that the new "News and Interests" taskbar item will only show with the Taskbar on the bottom.

So - for me - I either break a near 20 year habit of top-screen Taskbar - or get used to double clicks.. until MS breaks a top-screen Taskbar completely.

    Cheers!

Hello group. I am new. Thank you, for the acceptance. I was searching and found this exact issue I was having. And I hoped we could help each other. I have this issue with the quick launch double click. I did a restore the other day, and it was gone. went back six hours for restore point. And the next day after a Windows update, it was back. It does do it more with taskbar at the top. But it eventually did it with the taskbar at bottom. I also noticed if the desktop has any app open, it works correctly. I beleive this is a Windows update issue. However I did notice an update to Fences, that happened about the same time. So I'm still searching. I'll let you know if I find out something else.

    This was somewhat helpful. https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/0...-your-taskbar/

I seem to have a work around by moving the taskbar to the bottom, right click on taskbar then set 'News & Interests' to off! Then I moved it back to the top. News and Interests don't seem to work on the top anyway. I had it on, and didn't know it.

Well, well! I was wondering whether that new nuisance (N&I) had anyhting to do with it, and it may very well be involved, but as soon as the thing appeared on my current machines, I used Brink's registry hack tutorial (How to Enable or Disable News and Interests on Taskbar in Windows 10) to kill it completely, so I can't say anything about what it might do to my taskbar toolbar icons' behaviour.

Wynona, you didn't mention N&I. Is it on the taskbars you're having icon problems with (in QL)?

Super! Worked here - and I'm back to single-click QL with taskbar on top!

    Thanks!

I also put my taskbar on top because of necessity when Skyping with my Senior Citizen students; Skype hides the taskbar on bottom when sharing my screen but doesn't when the TB's on top.

I just read @POSTec's post and tried his "workaround" and it seems to have worked.

I don't bother with News & Interests anyway, so it wasn't a lost to disable it!
