Take ownership of Windows\SystemResources, then revert to Trusted In?

The plan: I'd like to take ownership of C:\Windows\SystemResources just long enough to substitute an edited imageres.dll.mun file for the original, and then go back and revert ownership of the folder to NT Service\TrustedInstaller.

That's what I'd like to do, not what I'm going to do.

I'm seeking your advice before I lift a single pinky.

Make a backup, AND make the backup software rescue media.
Once you have that, you can experiment till your heart is content.

Even if Windows won't boot... you'll still be able to access your backups, with the bootable backup software rescue media.

As to your experiment... I would just take ownership, and do your file substitution.
I don't even think you'll need to give ownership back to trusted installer.

Then again... I use backup software.

Okay, I'm just thinking that taking ownership of system files is a possible recipe for disaster.
