    Random reboots, where to post?

I have an ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advanced Edition and it randomally reboots periodically.
I don't know where to start to find why.

    ASUS - ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition 15.6" FHD Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9-5900HX - 16GB Memory - Radeon RX 6800M - 512GB SSD

Hi, what's the history please? (So often omitted by posters).

    E.g.
    Is this a new build?
If not, when did this start?
    What happened before this started?

How does it shut down- does it shut down normally or abrubtly?
Look at your event viewer. What does it report for these restarts?

Need to separate hardware from software, so
    a. Do a clean boot. (Google that or see tutorial if unsure how). Is PC stable?
    b. get a live boot disk and boot your PC from that. E.g. Google 'live boot disk' - Bob Omb's, Hiren's, Kyhi's etc. Download iso, create bootable disk.

Is PC stable running from that?

Run memory tests. (Tutorials available) - you can do that when booted from the live boot disk in the hope of avoiding restarts.

Is your RAM all compatible with your MBO?

    Are you over-clocking?

    There's a start...

    Thank you for the reply!

It is a brand new 3 week old laptop.
    Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
    Stock.
I don't know what to look for in the logs.
It has happend about 4 times. There are reports from others with the same laptop of the same random reboots.
It has Liquid Metal but I removed that right out the box with battery disconnected.. this is an issue with software I'm sure.

Two times, it happened right after I closed a game I was playing. About 1-3 mins after, it rebooted.
I have odd reports in System in the event viewer I don't understand. I don't understand what they mean. One said there was a crash about 8 minutes before it happened, which is not true.
    Time is correct.

    This is why I'm here.

I don't know what to look for in the logs.
    a. Note the time of a restart
    b. Open event viewer
    c. Look for event at that time related to restart.

If you like a linear list of your events, try Fulleventlogview (free).
    What are the event ids?

I suggested a number of other ideas - which you are free to follow.

If you know this model has this problem, and it's new, I suggest you return it.

There is no simple or easy way to diagnose this that I know of.

There are technical tools you can use to log or examine all activity, but these are unlikely to help.
As I said, need to know if hardware or software-related.

If hardware, tenforums can't help you. Sorry.

Have a look in Reliability History and see if there are any errors listed.
If so,then ---view tech details---lines1 & 2 might give some searchable information.

Windows can and usually will tell you if it rebooted due to a bugcheck.

Was the game you were playing an old one?
If so,then suggest you RIGHT click on either the .EXE or shortcut of that game and select ---properties ---
    Click on the ---compatability ---tab.
Check the---Run this program in compatability mode for--- and select the appropriate option.
It is too coincidental for this to happen evey time a game is run and a brand new machine.

The previous system shutdown at 2:06:42 AM on ‎7/‎31/‎2021 was unexpected.
It happened at 2:21 am, that is what just happened.
    Got that from Reliability History.
    Nothing happened at 2:06.

    I'm confused.
