There is no need for a workaround. You can pin the shortcut to a batch file directly. You can also drag and drop the shortcut also.

Did you try what I posted in post #10 ? If you modify the target in the batch files' shortcut like I showed then I have found that Pin to Start option appears in the context menu.
You are free to prove me wrong and give me a batch file that you can't pin to the taskbar. I will take as a challenge.
