    Recoverring fies

I accidentally deleted a folder on W10 destop

Used RECUVA it found all files .... all were marked as excellent
Ran Recover and saved to a different HD

All 243 files are there .... but no one of them will open .....
They all have correct icons .... and are jpeg, png, cr2, dng, mov, mp4
But on every single one of them, I get error "It appears we don't support this file format"

    Hello @sargan,

As an initial test, seeing that the Files are on another HDD, Copy one of the Files to the Desktop and try to open it. Does it work?

How did you actually Delete the Folder, was it Right-Click and Delete?

    I hope this helps.

Copied to desktop ... same error 'its appears we don't support format'

I did not realise I had put folder into the wastebasket ... must have had it selected when i moved something else .. but was within minutes as was working on one file.

I run RECUVA it finds them all and marks as excellent ... recovers all OK but none will open/ play

If the files are in the Recycle Bin, open the Bin and choose to restore all the files or folder to it's original location.
If you Emptied the Bin and tried to restore after using the computer you may have overwritten the original files.
Right click any of the files that were recovered and choose Properties to see what size of the file is.
You can also go to the toolbar in File Explorer and choose View put a check in File Name Extensions.
Make sure files all have the correct File Extension (ie) ,png, jpeg etc. Try changing the file extension (ie) rename .png to .jpeg. (ie)picture.jpeg. Of if any of the files don't have extensions, apply them.

Not sure what you mean ... I don't know what size should be .

If I take a jpeg as example
SRN13KSI.jpg windows shows it as right date, right times and size of 10,708KB

    Properties shows as 10.4MB
MediaInfo shows it as 10.5 MiB

I did empty bin ... but realised mistake in a few minutes .. and run recuva to a different HDD

Its just strange that everyone (bar 1) was showing as excellent, and all recoverred, but none will open.

If you have System Restore points, you can use ShadowExplorer utility to restore lost or damaged files from Shadow Copies.

Never heard of that or used it, happy to try if you can give any hints on how to use it.
