    Concern about Windows 11 Spec.

Used Windows for many years but I fear the latest requirement for TPM will be the end of Windows for me. Both home laptops do not have TPM so Windows 11 will not install. I will not be spending £1000 plus replacing perfectly good equipment, so I'll probably revert to Pads and Android. I'm betting that I'm one amongst many who will be considering the future of Windows, did not Microsoft say Windows 10 was the forever OS ?

There is NO immediate rush to install Win 11 when it becomes publicly available at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year, as Win 10 is supported until the 14-Oct-2025.

To be honest, until the official public release, MS might [ only might ] change the goal posts in respect to the Hardware needed in order to run Win 11. The current Win 11 that is available for testing is basically Win 10 with a Facelift, so a LOT can change between now and then.

    I hope this helps.

I wouldnt be surprised if they walk back some of the requirements to "recommended"

I'll probably switch to UOS—an OS being developed by the Chinese.

Hi Ghot! You should update your thread and replace 22000.51 with 22000.65 Just saying.

Assuming both Laptops are the one you list then they would be due for replacement anyway in a few years time.

So the requirements for Windows 11, whatever they may turn out to be on release, does not affect you at all.

In fact you are in a really excellent position as you have had good value out of those two Laptops and will likely get the same with the future Windows 11 Laptop replacement purchases.

Be happy you are in a good place, no worries.

    Fixed. Changed it to 22000.xx

Whenever MS starts messing with the 22000 number, I'll probably change it to something like...
    the latest version.

    Noted

Yes I've taken note of all comments but just because a machine is old does not mean it is not capable of carrying out the tasks assigned to it. Shelling out over £1000 plus because Microsoft wish to apply TPM , why do I need TPM? I've used Windows since version 3 and never had the requirement for TPM. Guess I'll just wait and see, and be happy there are alternatives to Microsoft.

    Hello @OLDJACK,

You could always try out the current Win 11 version to see if you like it, BUT, as I said in my previous post, it is NOT the official public release. That way, you will see that there is NO rush or real advantage to install it when it is available . . .
