Wouldn't it be nice if, after we were dead for that amount of time, we were brought back to life to continue where we left off????

    Welcome to TenForums @simonjshaw

The slowest processor I've successfully run Windows 10 on - if 'run' is the right word ('walked'?) was an AMD V120.

The CPU Benchmarks says that mine positively 'sings' compared to yours. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare...V120/1423vs503

(still felt like swimming in treacle)

Still have a few laptops with win10: Dell Latitude D620 from 2006. I stopped using it as my main laptop about a year ago, but it still works fine. It's a triple boot XP, Win7, and Win10. (was win8.1) Intel-945GM/PM-chipset Core Duo. 2.3 gHz (shared with graphics).

I still use a Dell Inspiron 8000, a P3 from year 2000. It has Win98 and XP dual boot. Has a real floppy controller, which is needed to make disks for old sampler sequencers from the 80s. Some old music software won't run on newer platforms.

2006 AMD Socket 939 based PC running Windows 10 32 bit just fine using a cheap SSD. This PC doesn't have the instruction set needed for 64 bit Windows. See my second PC spec.

My oldest (working) machine (HP single core laptop) barely runs XP let alone anything newer. Second oldest is AMD Phenom II x4 based and runs W10 very smoothly and actually better than W7 but had to revert to W7 because I'm just about to give it to a friend's kids for games. Somewhat newer system AMD FX 6350 based runs W10 as smooth as any newer one, all drivers for it are recent or newest and still developed so shouldn't have any problems for some time to come.
Few years ago I (re)built couple of pretty old Intel Intel e2160 dual core computers for a friend and despite only 2GB of RAM on one of them they are still quite usable for his needs and update regularly, no problems. One of them was a Dell and other one HP brand, both came with W7 but upgraded to W10.

Mine is a Dell Optiplex 330, originally from work, a primary school in Holland. I think they hail from around 2008. I could take it home when PC's were replaced at school. It started out with Windows Vista, then Windows 7, now Windows 10-1803, 32-bit.
I've upgraded the processor from a Celeron to a Q9550, which helps a lot. But the machine is still very slow, I'd (subjectively) say slower than with Windows 7. I've tried speeding it up in various ways: besides the processor, I installed a RAMdisk in the unused upper 1 GB of its 4 GB's of memory where I put the pagefile, and I put the Temp folder on a fast 32 GB USB drive. And 15 GB of that drive is used by ReadyBoost.
I keep the machine mainly for tinkering like this and for backup purposes. It's fun to keep old hardware going.

    Regards, Jaap.

You might want to drop in some cheap SSD, it will still work faster than any HDD and make it much more responsive. Even if it only has SATA2 it will still be several times faster than any HDD.
