Who has the oldest Machine that runs Windows 10?

Thanks for replying! I guess that's very true. The C: drive is the original Hitachi 80 GB disk that the machine came with, not a speed monster exactly . The thing is, I consider it a bit of a sport to see what I can accomplish with minimal investments. But the SSD option is definitely worth considering. Woud be nice to try one out and see what difference it makes. At the moment, I have a spare 1 TB HDD lying around that I could try out, as a first step. Like I said, it's fun tinkering with old hardware.

A cheap SSD made a huge difference to my old 2006 backup PC. Of course you can reuse the SSD when you finally decommission the old PC.

A desktop or laptop built for Windows XP will likely have a 32-bit CPU.
That means it can use no more than 3 GB of RAM. That's awfully tight for Vista, 7, 8, or 10.
Will it run? Perhaps. But performance will be dismal. Such a box is suitable only as landfill.

So how exactly is this thread relevant?

32-bit processor from year 2000 was basically standard.

Many CPUs from that era are 64 bit. My AMD Socket 939 based PC runs Windows 10 surprisingly well once I used a SSD system drive.

I have a laptop, a Dell Insprion 1520, which was bought brand new in May, 2008. It had Windows Xp on it. I then did an upgrade to Windows 7. I took the free upgrade to Windows 10.

So, anyone here have an older setup than mine that is running Windows 10?
