    Default image file and location

    Windows 10 Version 2004
When trying to save a picture, the default is png and it's not in a default file location.

How can I set the default to jpg and set a default file location?

Would I have to do a registry hack?

    Thanks in advance

Out of interest, how are you trying to save a picture?

If I have an image/picture within a Word 2019 document, I just r/click the image > Save as Picture > Choose a location > Save as type (it is jpeg by default) > Save.

As your suggestion, I'm already doing that. In Word, when I Save Picture As, the save type as shows png. I want jpg to be the default in the, save type as box. Also, I want it saved in the Library Pictures Folder and I want the folder to be the default.

When you click a picture and choose Save As, you can change the file type to JPEG, and the Save Location to Pictures (ie) C:\Users\UserName\Pictures. The next picture you save will be to the last Save location you chose as the File type you chose.

Out of interest, when you Save as Picture, what is the ‘current’ folder opening for the save?
Re the Save as type, I’m sure if an image in the document is a jpeg, then that is he default save type. If the image is a png, then that will be the default save type.
    That’s easily tested.
Create a new document and insert different types of images – a jpeg, a png and a gif.
Then r/click each image to see what save as type each image tries to save in by default.
