    photos from my phone

is there a way to get my phone photos to show last one taken the first one to show? when i just go to the folders and click my phone it opens with the last photo at the top, but when i am sending an email and i go to upload a photo the photos show up in reverse order, so i have to scroll to the bottom to get the last photo taken.

most of the time itis the last photo taken that your need to send out in an email. i try properties but i do not see a way to rearrange them. even if i try to upload a photo from this site it does the same thing i click insert image then i click from computer then browse then the folders show up and i click on my phone and then internal storage and then dcim and camera and they start showing up, but in reverse order as i took them so i have to scroll all the way down to get the last photo.

so how can i make this so the last one taken is on the top of that list? thanks

i do not get that page all i get is photos. if i go to the pc folders first i get that page but the picture has not been transferred most of the time, i just plug in the phone and in the folders it shows up, then i click on the phone and then internal storage then dcim then camera and then they populate the page but in reverse order. if i go this route and copy the new ones into a folder and then open that folder they then are newest first as i have it set up that way. but not if i just do what i stated above.
    thanks

In my experience there's two things that thwart my ability to do this:

    1. The folders that show up under attached Phones are some what neutered in that they can't be set to specific folder types like General or Music or Videos. They instead have some permanent setting, typically Music and yet will ignore any global settings for the Music folder type. And while I can change the columns and sort order for the phone folders, these are ignored when opened in these special dialog windows (See 2. below)

Here's what my DCIM folder looks like under my attached Phone when right clicked in File Explorer:

Here's the same folder after it's been moved to C:\

    2. The Dialog Windows for Save As, Open, Upload, or Download ignore any folder customization I've done to that particular folder and revert to what is set as the base for that Folder Type as seen under Right Click Folder > Properties > Customization.

Some discussion of this issue here of changing the base folder type columns and sort which when globally applied does show up under these special dialog windows, but of course are forced on any other folders with the same type that you may have altered slightly from the base type setting.

How do I set default column widths in file save/open dialogs?

The only work around would be to copy that phone folder to the PC and be sure it's base Folder Type it's set with the sort order you'd like to see in your Upload dialog, but this is hardly practical if your photos are changing frequently.

Is there any reason you are not using Details view? With Details view you can sort by Created date.

thanks mr ed if i just plug in the phone and open it in windows under the folder icon they open like you show, but if i was to be in an email and click on the insert paper clip at the bottom of the email they open way different than what your showing.

my question is how in the world do you get your phone photos to open like your showing when your in an email and need to send an image? so here is the sequence i get when i plug in the phone and want to send an image from an email
go to the last thumbs here where you see some photos and notice the slider at the top then at the bottom! the top is how it starts the bottom is where i put it to see that last photo of my pc screen showing me the icons i had before i did a reset on my other probook that was messing up and in another thread.

what i need is for those photos to be in reverse order if it is possible to do. thanks

the pics when transferred - copied to the computer will show as I explained in my first reply, with my screenshot and MisterEd also included in his post 6, both of them the view tab in explorer, will show as you configure them - eg date taken, date modified, date created, sized etc.

However the pics on the phone or camera simply opened in computer and NOT copied to the pics folder will show in the same way they show on the phone/camera
On my camera I can configure the camera menu on how to show the pics.
