Problem caused by reformat Windows 10

About a month ago my employer purchased a new computer for me for the office and gave me the existing computer for personal use at home. After making sure I had all the files, etc., I needed to transfer to the new computer I reformatted the old computer. But there is a significant issue: there are instances where it is asking for a password for admin use. It's asking for a password that I never even knew existed before for: Scanner. There wasn't ever a Windows pw on this computer.

I have my own subscription to Roboform, downloaded the installation app but I can't install because of this password issue. There doesn't seem to be any way around it. I can't set up an admin user because it wants said pw for that too. Any of the suggestions that Roboform support gave me require me to be an admin user.

Our church was given 4 Notebooks that came from a company, had to wipe the drives and install clean because the donor's agent forgot to disconnect/log them off from the Network before disconnecting the cable/removing from the premises. Unfortunately they came from a few hundred miles away so no way to reconnect and do it properly. That wiping and full install will be the best way to make it usable, I used the bootable GPARTED LiveCD to get a fully clean wipe, put the drives back to their as-shipped condition.

Having a password on the BIOS to prevent changes is another issue, if not having that password it usually can only be fixed by removing the power to the CMOS to wipe the user-settable parts which includes the BIOS passwords and start as a new computer.

As this appears to be an agreeable situation with your Employer and YOURSELF, why can you NOT approach your IT Department and explain the situation, which I am sure they can help with.

Other than that, Berton has given you an alternative.

You could also look at the Proxy Settings, although with a Clean Install that should NOT be an issue . . .

    Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy

    I hope this helps.

    How, exactly?

Did you then install Windows 10?

I certainly think contacting your IT Department is a worthwhile option. They may be able to advise you as the computer would have been initially setup by them. I am sure that it is an easy fix rather than trashing it.

    I hope this helps.
    BTW, Welcome to TenForums.
