Something weird happened after Win update

I check my Win version from time to time. I did the may update I believe from Blink's Tutorial, then my version was,

    Windows 10 Pro version 21H1 build 19043.928

Yesterday there was an update, I know from the look of my desktop. I hide all my icons and I have password manager that never logs out unless I manually do of it reaches the time i set which is months. All icons were on my desktop and my password manager was logged out and that only happens when there is a reboot.

Now when I check my Winver I have Version20H2 ( OS Build 19042.1052)

    did my Windows version downgrade???

    Hi,

You may try again to update/upgrade Windows but this time and before that, disable or even better totally remove your Antivirus app. Most of times third party AVs is the reason for any update/upgrade failure.

Obviously, something went wrong and system downgraded automatically. Third party AVs, sometimes, cannot allow for some files to be replaced/updated, causing a... mess. Perhaps, that's your case too and doesn't matter if everything went fine in the past using, in parallel, your Antivirus.

If you wish to protect yourself from unexpected restarts, do see the relevant tutorials.. in the Tutorial section.

Thanks but I don't think unexpected was my issue. Shouldn't I allow updates to install when they are available? also will they always downgrade the may 2021 update?

No. You never know what horrors MS might inflict. Best wait to see what people make of them.
E.g. News and Interests introduces latest widely reported system tray bug afflicting many if they disable it.

1909 intially wrecked file explore search, which MS kept trying to fix in updates I avoided, staying on 1903 until upgrading to 20H2- a functional downgrade, with 4 minor things to fix in my case.

also will they always downgrade the may 2021 update?
    Never heard of this before.

You have Pro- a really useful feature is setting WU to 'Notify' using group policy, and deferring feature updates by up to 365 days. That way you have control. And surely you don't want to be editing some big document when you get a Windows Update restart..?

SO are you saying to se WU to notify and stay with the version I now have. I noticed the News & Interest on my taskbar after this update and turned it off, will I have issues from that?

No. Notify means... you are notified of updates. Have a look - Google perhaps. Then you see what the update is- and you can choose WHEN to apply it.

I.e. it doesn't just happen to you.

N&I - bug seems to affect those who have display scaling >100%... at least that's one interim result from tests.

Maybe I asked the question wrong. I know what notify means, I guess I could check with this forum before updating. I do have scaling > 100% and I need it that way otherwise I can't see anything. So is there anything I can do? should I do the May update again? and hope it stays this time, will disabling my AV really make a difference?

Also how do I set the updates to notify and how do I set more than 7 days delay that is all I am seeing. I do see this

The next version of Windows is available with new features and security improvements. When you're ready for the update, select "Download and install." it is the 21H1 update

should I download and install before setting the WU to notify?

    N&I:
    a. If disabling it altogether has no adverse effect on the taskbar- great, you're lucky.
    b. Typically about 1.5-2 mins after disabling it my whole system tray vanishes.
    c. Minimum case achieved- icon only displayed, hover off.

Note: N&I icon disappears if taskbar placed on other screen edges.

One person possibly found a different scenario with a double height taskbar.

Uninstalling the update removes it, but you'd then have to block the update or use ... Notify...
Also how do I set the updates to notify
